Charities benefitting
from 2012 4-Hearts Golf Classic Eckerd Raising Hope, Inc. is a not-for-profit
organization based in Pinellas County, Florida. Erkerd Raising Hope was established in
2004 to meet the emergency clothing and toiletry needs for children coming into
Pinellas County’s foster care system.
As they enter the foster care system, each child is provided a duffle bag
filled with clothing, new socks, underwear, shoes, and age appropriate toiletry
items. The filled duffle bag allows the child to arrive at his foster home with
his own belongings and a sense of pride and dignity. In 2007 Raising Hope met
the emergency needs of more than 1500 children in Pinellas County. Bob Williams started Our Troops Online to send support
items to our troops stationed in Afghanistan, Iraq & Kuwait all places where the
nearest drug or discount store is about 12,000 miles away. Much of what is
shipped is snack items donated by generous companies. All of which are
enormously popular with the troops. Bob uses the donation money particularly for
postage and to buy the items requested by the troops, such as Q-tips, CDs, DVDs,
batteries, school supplies, and toys. He also sends feminine and personal
hygiene items such as; deodorant, shampoo, and cigars, to name a few. In 1974 the Shepherd Center began when a few volunteers
collectively decided to provide food, clothing and compassion to those in need
in the immediate area. The Shepherd Center provides compassion, basic support,
and assistance to those in our community who need it most. They focus on
families, the elderly, the homeless, and others in need.
The programs they offer are client outreach, food pantry, clothes tree,
adopt a family program, community kitchen and project Thanks.
In recent years, because of the support of our financial donors and
volunteers, we are now one of the largest, most comprehensive services of its
kind north of Clearwater and extending into Southwestern Pasco County.
