Shepherd Center Soup Kitchen & Meal-to-Go Project |
![]() |
Don't ever let anyone tell you that one person cannot change the
world!
Friends, each of you ... in your own "small way" helped to change
the world we live in today.
With the kindness of your compassionate donations we impacted our
neighbors.
|
The food donations were gathered over 3 days, and all together we had enough food to pack 280 take-away-meals. Thank you to Yari Kartzmark for showing up to help with the production. |

We arrived at the soup kitchen this morning, with the 280 packed meals and another wonderful volunteer's pair of hands belonging to Sara Kokinakis. These meals were passed out after the diners had been served a hot meal, and what a meal they had! The 4-hearts would like to especially thank Jamie Murphy, who is a daughter-of-a-heart for all the hours that she volunteered. The next generation of volunteerism is growing in her. Nettie and Terri helped to prepare a wonderful meal. Two different salads, soup, chili and hot dogs, with dessert! After visiting with the diners for a bit we sent them off with a meal-to-go bag; most likely their only for sure meal for the next day or so.
We know that we will never again take for granted the food that we
have available to us in our homes. We have never been so humbled! |

Once finished with our meal distribution, we went to the main building and helped stock the Shepherd Center's food pantry with the remaining food items we had collected. We met with Vonda who runs the food pantry, and Wow! do they have the operation down pat! They serve more than 5000 meals a month to families in the Tarpon Springs area. Who knew the demand was so high, and growing? |

The 4-Hearts feel this project was a huge success and is right in line
with our mission statement ... to connect people who can help, with
people who need help.
The Shepherd Center has a great organization going in Tarpon
Springs, and we are just completely
honored to be part of it. The Shepherd Center provides free, hot meals, groceries, hygiene supplements, personal case management and planning for success with education and employment opportunities. The Shepherd Center was started in 1974 by a few volunteers who decided to provide food, clothing and compassion for the needy in their area. Today it has grown into the largest service of its kind north of Clearwater!
Thank you again for all of you that helped to make this
possible. We know that we count on you, and rely on you and we never want
to let you down. Please enjoy the pictures that you helped to make possible.
You should go to bed feeling as though you made
a difference today ... because you did!
